Built around #OpenData and #DataForGood principles,<strong> NoteTracker <\/strong>offers a first-of-its-kind public window into X&#8217;s Community Notes ecosystem\u2014highlighting both visible and not-yet-visible notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community Notes on X are submitted and rated by everyday users, rather than professional fact-checkers, who collaboratively provide context to potentially misleading or harmful posts. However, because the visibility of these notes depends on other users rating them as \u2018<em>helpful<\/em>\u2019, many never see the light of day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>The app revealed that nearly 90% of proposed community notes never become visible on X<\/em>,\u201d said Dr. Anatoliy Gruzd, Co-Director of the Social Media Lab. &#8220;<em>This observation highlights the shortcomings of crowdsourced content moderation systems like Community Notes\u2014an important consideration as more platforms explore similar models<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Makes NoteTracker Different?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unfiltered Access:<\/strong> View notes that haven\u2019t yet met X\u2019s visibility threshold, offering insight into the ~90% of Community Notes that never go live.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In-Depth Analysis: <\/strong>Explore notes by type\u2014Factual Error, Manipulated Media, Missing Context, Unverified Claim as Fact, and more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increased Transparency: <\/strong>Track which types of notes get published on X\u2014and which don\u2019t\u2014to better understand how the moderation process works in practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why This Matters<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Community Notes can help slow the spread of misinformation, <strong>NoteTracker<\/strong> data reveals systemic challenges.
