Going beyond simple audience reactions to videos, YouTube comments can be a rich source of research data that can reveal insights into how social ties are maintained, how online communities are formed around shared ideas, how opinions are shaped, how people use YouTube videos for identity and meaning-making and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Researchers have used YouTube comments for studies ranging from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.32920\/14669178.v1\">offensive commenting<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1109\/ICDABI53623.2021.9655833\">online perceptions of popular tourist destinations<\/a>. The YouTube comments data collector joins other recently released data collection modules in Communalytic, such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/communalytic.org\/2022\/10\/24\/enabling-public-discourse-research-with-telegram-data-no-coding-required\/\">Telegram channels or groups<\/a>&nbsp;data collector. Like our other no-code data collectors, the new YouTube comments data collector integrates seamlessly with Communalytic\u2019s various built-in analytical modules such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/communalytic.org\/tutorials\/tutorial-sentiment-analysis\/\">sentiment analysis<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/communalytic.org\/tutorials\/tutorial-toxicity-analysis\/\">toxicity analysis<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/communalytic.org\/tutorials\/how-to-generate-amp-visualize-embeddings\/\">topic analysis<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/communalytic.org\/tutorials\/tutorial-network-visualizer-in-communalytic\/\">network analysis<\/a>.
