{"id":9219,"date":"2014-02-15T22:49:36","date_gmt":"2014-02-16T02:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/socialmedialab.ca\/web\/?page_id=9219"},"modified":"2023-03-05T20:07:27","modified_gmt":"2023-03-05T20:07:27","slug":"learning-analytics-for-the-social-media-age","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/socialmedialab.ca\/web\/research-old\/academia-projects\/learning-analytics-for-the-social-media-age\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Analytics for the Social Media Age"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Funded by a $478,622\u00a0<\/strong><strong><a style=\"color: #074d7c; cursor: pointer;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca\/funding-financement\/programs-programmes\/insight_grants-subventions_savoir-eng.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Insight Grant<\/a>\u00a0(<\/strong><strong>2013-2018)\u00a0<\/strong><strong>from the\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada(SSHRC).<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>This major five-year (2013-2018) research initiative is designed to address the question \u201cHow do social media networks influence educational models?\u201d The project involves developing novel learning analytics for the social media age.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Learning_analytics\">Learning analytics<\/a>\u00a0is \u201cthe measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs.\u201d One of the primary goals of this initiative is to devise new theoretical and technical solutions that will help educators and researchers to study learning processes in social media.
