Each year the Centre for Information Technology in Education (CITE) and the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) invite one professor to visit HKU as part of the Faculty Visitor Scheme (FVS). The FVS was introduced to enhance the HKU visibility in the international academic community, provide opportunities for HKU academics to interact with world-class scholars, and establish links with institutions leading in the discipline.
This year, Dr. Anatoliy Gruzd, Associate Professor at Dalhousie University and Director of the Social Media Lab, has been selected as a visiting researcher under this program. Dr. Gruzd will visit HKU for the period of 28 April – 12 May 2014.
“I am very excited about this research trip. It is a great opportunity to touch base with colleagues such as Dr. Xiao Hu and other researchers at HKU. My hope for this trip is that we will be able to identify projects that are of mutual interests to researchers working at the Social Media Lab and those working at HKU Faculty of Education,” says Dr. Gruzd.
During the visit, Dr. Guzd will deliver two seminars and one methodology workshop and explore potential joint research opportunities with faculty at HKU. The seminars and workshop will cover many of the research initiatives currently underway at the Social Media Lab.
