Social Media Lab Welcomes Visiting Scholar Dr. Anne Suphan @anne_suphan

We are pleased to welcome Anne Suphan to the Ryerson Social Media Lab as our newest Visiting Scholar.

Anne is a post-doctoral researcher at Hohenheim University, Germany. She received her PhD in Organization Studies and Cultural Theory from University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. Her research interests include social capital in social media, digital divide, digital sociology, and visual research methods. In 2013, she was a visiting scholar at Donald McGannon Communication Research Center at Fordham University New York.

During her time in residence at the lab, Anne will be working on a project examining how our social class and other social attributes shape our ‘presentation of self’ on a visual platform such as Instagram.

The Social Media Lab has a strong tradition of collaboration. As an internationally engaged research lab, our Visiting Scholar Program (VSP) hosts a diverse range of outstanding multidisciplinary scholars from around the world. The program provides a visiting scholar/professor with an opportunity to further their own research as well as collaborate with the Lab on a joint research project.
