We are pleased to welcome a new member to the Social Media Lab – Dr. Nadia Conroy.
Nadia Conroy joins us from the University of Western Ontario, where she completed her PhD in Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Computer Science under the supervision of Dr. Victoria Rubin. Dr. Conroy research focuses on the use of ubiquitous, collaborative technologies in group work and learning. As a researcher, she tries to understand how social media, language technologies, and human-oriented system design can be integrated and leveraged to add measurable value to online activities.
Dr. Conroy will be joining the lab as a Postdotoral Fellow, working with Dr. Anatoliy Gruzd, the Social Media Lab’s director of research and other lab members on a project funded by eCampusOntario called “Learning Analytics Dashboard for the Social Media Age’s e-Learners and Educators“. This project examinines the use of social media by instructors who are teaching online courses as part of eCampusOntario. The main objective of this project is to evaluate novel Learning Analytics approaches and develop an online dashboard to help instructors to be more effective when teaching with social media.
