WHAT: Social Media Lab Panel Discussion on “Social Media and Your Health Research”

ABOUT THE EVENT:
The Social Media Lab studies how social media are changing the ways in which people communicate and disseminate information and how these changes are impacting social, economic, and political norms and structures of our modern society.
With this in mind, the Integrated Health Research Training Partnership (IHRTP) has invited various members of the Social Media Lab to speak about the various health-related research and knowledge translation initiatives currently underway at the Lab.
In particular, the panel will discuss:
- The role of weblogs in the communication of specialized health-related information, to both lay and expert communities.
- How and why health care organizations and practitioners can use social media to better connect to their patients and their community.
- Knowledge translation and Altmetrics in the age of social media
